Biography of Bradley Cooper

Childhood and Youth

Bradley Cooper, son of Gloria and Charlie Cooper, was born on January 5, 1975, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His mother worked for NBC, and his father was a stockbroker at Merrill Lynch. Bradley was the youngest child in the family. Raised in a Catholic household, he was influenced by his parents' Irish and Italian heritage. At the age of 5, Bradley was diagnosed with a cholesteatoma in his middle ear, which could have affected his hearing. However, with the help of several surgeries, he was able to avoid any long-term consequences.

During his school years, Bradley attended Germantown Academy in Fort Washington, where he became friends with Brian Klugman, a future actor and screenwriter. He also worked for the Philadelphia Daily News during his youth. In 1993, he enrolled in Villanova University but later transferred to Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Here, he joined the rowing team and participated in productions by the Nomadic Theatre. Bradley also spent 6 months in France as an exchange student, studying French. In 1997, he graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Early Career

Bradley Cooper began his acting career while still a university student. His first role was a small appearance in the cult TV series "Sex and the City" in 1999. He then appeared as a presenter in the popular travel show "Globe Trekker." His versatility allowed him to play a variety of roles, from romantic leads to comedic characters. In 2000, he completed his university studies and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree.

Cooper made his big-screen debut as Ben in the cult comedy "Wet Hot American Summer" in 2001. During the same period, he also had a recurring role as Will Tippin in the TV series "Alias" from 2001 to 2003. This series brought him recognition and led to numerous guest appearances in other films and TV shows. He continued to work in television, starring in the crime drama series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," the dramas "Touching Evil" and "Jack & Bobby," and the sitcom "Kitchen Confidential."

In 2009, Cooper appeared in the romantic comedy "He's Just Not That Into You," alongside Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, and Drew Barrymore. The same year, he starred in the highly successful comedy "The Hangover," which received critical acclaim and earned over 13 times its budget at the box office. This film brought Cooper the fame and recognition he had been working towards and earned him an award at the Hollywood Film Festival. However, his subsequent film "All About Steve," in which he co-starred with Sandra Bullock, was poorly received by critics and earned him and Bullock Golden Raspberry Awards for Worst Actor and Worst Actress.

In 2010, Cooper appeared in the romantic comedy "Valentine's Day," which also boasted an all-star cast. The film was a commercial success. He also reprised his role in the sequel to "The Hangover," titled "The Hangover Part II," and starred in the atypical thriller "Limitless" based on Alan Glynn's novel.

In 2012, Cooper received nominations for the Academy Awards, the Golden Globe Awards, and the BAFTA Awards for his role in the tragicomedy "Silver Linings Playbook." Director David O. Russell wanted to find a unique pair of actors who could convincingly portray characters with mental health issues. Despite initial skepticism from others in the industry, Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, the star of "The Hunger Games," were chosen for the roles. Cooper became the tenth person to be nominated for an Academy Award three years in a row. Additionally, he made his debut as a producer in this film. In the same year, Cooper starred in the crime comedy "American Hustle" and received nominations for the same awards.

In 2014, Cooper was nominated for an Academy Award once again for his role in "American Sniper." This marked his fourth consecutive year of Oscar nominations. He also made his debut as a voice actor, lending his voice to Rocket Raccoon in the film "Guardians of the Galaxy," based on the Marvel Comics.

Cooper continued his collaboration with Jennifer Lawrence in the film "Serena" in 2014, which had been planned long before their first joint film. The couple's personal relationship gained significant media attention, and their love life was regularly discussed in magazines. They subsequently appeared in the film "Joy" in 2015, where Lawrence played a mother who achieves success in business with her invention, and Cooper played a supporting role.

In the 2015-2016 television season, Cooper starred in the TV series "Limitless," a continuation of the film of the same name. He also reprised his role as Rocket in the second installment of "Guardians of the Galaxy," which premiered in 2017.

Personal Life

Bradley Cooper's personal life has been the subject of much media attention, particularly his relationships with famous women. Throughout his career, the tall, blue-eyed heartthrob (standing at 6'1" and weighing 183 lbs) has attracted the attention of numerous fans and Hollywood stars.

At the beginning of his acting career, Cooper became engaged to actress and dancer Jennifer Esposito. They announced their engagement in October 2006 and got married in December of the same year. However, their marriage lasted only four months, and they divorced due to irreconcilable differences.

In August 2009, Cooper was seen in the company of actress Renée Zellweger, confirming rumors of their romance. Cooper revealed that he had met Zellweger in 2006 but only started dating her after his divorce. Their relationship lasted for two years, ending in 2011.

Cooper was then briefly linked to Olivia Wilde and Jennifer Lopez, according to the media.

In late 2011, Cooper attended the premiere of the film "The Words" with actress and model Zoe Saldana. They started dating shortly after and made their debut as a couple. However, they took a break in their relationship in March 2012 and reconciled six months later, only to break up again in January 2013.

For the following two years, Cooper dated British model Suki Waterhouse. They were first spotted together in Boston in 2013 and made their debut as a couple at the premiere of "American Sniper."

Cooper's most recent romantic partner was Russian supermodel Irina Shayk, who had previously been in a relationship with soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo. Their relationship attracted significant media attention, and their personal lives were regularly discussed in glossy magazines. After two years together, Cooper and Shayk announced their split in 2019 due to a lack of time for each other. Rumors of a romance between Cooper and his co-star Jennifer Lawrence surfaced shortly after.

In April 2017, it was revealed that Cooper had become a father for the first time as his girlfriend Irina Shayk gave birth to their daughter in Los Angeles. The baby, named Lea De Seine Shayk Cooper, arrived in late March.

Cooper and Shayk later moved to New York, where Cooper purchased a $13.5 million townhouse. The house features 370 square meters of living space, including 2 children's rooms, 6 bedrooms, and a living room with a fireplace. There is also a fruit garden nearby.

In 2018, Cooper made his directorial and screenwriting debut with the musical film "A Star Is Born," a remake of the 1937 classic Hollywood tale of a young singer and a famous musician. Cooper had long been fascinated by the idea of creating a film based on this famous story. In addition to exploring themes of love and relationships, the film also delves into the topic of alcoholism. Cooper drew from his own experiences, as he had struggled with addiction in his youth but managed to overcome it. In the film, he played the male lead himself and cast pop diva Lady Gaga as his co-star. Despite initial doubts about Gaga's dramatic abilities, Cooper insisted on her casting and personally visited her home to discuss the project. The only condition Gaga had was that all the songs in the film be performed live, to which Cooper agreed.

In the summer of 2019, it was reported that Cooper and Shayk had separated. Although the reasons for their breakup were not officially disclosed, fans speculated that Lady Gaga was involved. Gaga moved into Cooper's home, where she reportedly redecorated the interior according to her own taste. However, by the fall of 2019, the relationship had ended. Gaga publicly stated that Cooper had broken her heart, but some fans believed the romance had been staged to generate publicity for the film.

Cooper also appeared in the thriller "Nightmare Alley," where he once again showcased his acting prowess. Interestingly, actor Leonardo DiCaprio initially auditioned for the role of Stanton Carlisle in "Nightmare Alley" before it was given to Cooper.

Cooper reprised his role as Rocket in new episodes of "Guardians of the Galaxy," which were filmed in Atlanta. Marvel Studios planned to release the new installments in 2022 and 2023.
